Tulip Festival

We headed down to the Tulip Festival to check out the flowers. It was the first time that I had been. We got lucky with a decently warm day. The kids had a good time and the flowers were really pretty.

I thought this was so pretty. It's a carousel with flower horses.

I love this picture! Angie and Baylee, such a genuine laugh.

Hmm .. Wyland thinks that the dirt looks interesting ..

um ... does it taste interesting too? YUCK!

There were so many fish!

Pretty gardens.

Happy 60th Birthday Dad!!

My Dad's birthday weekend was literally a weekend of surprises. Our friends Angie and Allen flew in from Canada to surprise him the Tuesday before. He was completely shocked! My mum took him over to Barnes and Noble to have a cup of coffee (something they do occasionally). So there they were just sitting at one of the tables in the cafe and Allen sneaks up behind my dad and taps him on the shoulder, "Excuse me, may I join you?" Hilarious! I totally wish I had been there to see it. The next surprise was on Friday night (that was his actual birthday). He thought that just he, my mum, and their friends were going downtown to have dinner at Bambara and stay overnight at the hotel. But, oh no we were all waiting for him at the restaurant. It was an adults only event, which for us is a BIG deal. We rarely get to go out without any kids, niether does Mike. Saturday, Jeramie and I entertained at our house. Which somehow lead to a night of Wii Bowling for some of the adults. I don't even understand the facination with it, but Baylee was REALLY happy to have some people to play with. Not to mention the fact that she beat most of them, much to their shock. The last surprise was supposed to be on Sunday. My mum had rented a suite at the Beez game. Unfortunately it rained all day and so the game was cancelled. Not to worry though, they rescheduled for the next day. It was a LOT of fun! I think that everybody had a really great time. Happy Birthday Dad!

To call 911 or not to call 911?

Okay so I'm going to bore you with a story. So Jeramie and I are taking advantage of the warm weekend and sat down watching Slumdog Millionaire together last night. We had the front door open with the window on the storm door slid down (enjoying that almost warm spring evening). All of a sudden I say .. "I can smell pot!" Jeramie walks out back onto the deck smells and yells something at the top of his lungs about someone having a party. Then the smell gets stronger and we're thinking, okay that's not pot, that's got to be a fire. Of course Fire Marshall Jeramie goes into panic mode (he's good at the drama), walking around the house making sure we aren't on fire. (When we first moved in he actually pulled the ladder off of the ADT truck hauled it up to the second floor to check the attic) MORE THAN ONCE. Anyway .. sorry I got side tracked .. so we both walk out front and the entire street is somewhat smokey. We can actually see a small billow of smoke coming from one of the neighbors across the street. So we sit there and debate, do we call 911 or not? I mean we couldn't SEE fire, but we could definitely smell it. Anyway we decide that if someone else smelled smoke and it could potentially be OUR house on fire we would want someone to call. So we called. 5 minutes later big fire truck stops right out front of our house!! HAHA!! By then it wasn't as smokey but you could definitely still smell it. They told us it was good we called, something about brush fires this time of year and they would just drive through the area. I dunno. We debated about calling them and all and felt kind of silly having a huge fire truck stopped in front of our house, but I guess better safe than sorry. So that was our excitement for the weekend.

Side note - Jackson was afraid of the fire truck .. scaredy cat is afraid of everything!! lol.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We spent the day at my parents. We headed over for brunch around 11am. My brother Mike and all his kids were there as well (Amber came later after work). My parents cooked us a delicious breakfast. Once we were finished we headed over to the park for some egg hunting. The big kids had fun running all over the grass.

Jackson and Owen quickly got tired of picking up eggs. Instead they abandoned the baskets and headed to play on the slide.

Pre Easter Activities

On the Saturday before Easter we packed all the kids up and headed over to Wheeler Farm. It was okay. The weather held out which was a good thing. My parents joined us as well as my brother Mike and his kids. They had a lot of booths and things but it was REALLY disorganized and you had to pay for just about everything. The $2 entrance fee didn't count for much. There was supposed to be laser tag included and they couldn't even tell us if the vendor showed up. Kind of a mess. They do a great job with their Halloween event, this however was a flop. Probably won't do this again.

Jackson has this weird facination with chickens. I don't know why.

Had to "donate" $5 for this picture.

Okay, so I think this picture is adorable. I love that it's okay for these little boys to hold hands.
