I have a hard time resisting the latest and greatest gadgets. In many ways I kind of pride myself on being a leader and not a follower. I find that I have pretty good instincts when it comes to this kind of stuff too. I was one of the first people I know to own an iPod (now everyone has them). I got a Blackberry before they were cool (now everyone has them). I held off on getting my current phone (Samsung Galaxy) because it was trying to be an iPhone (which is what I really wanted, but I'm with T-Mobile) but it wasn't an iPhone. And to this day I REALLY don't love it. Remember what I said about my instincts? They were telling me not to but I went against them. Anyway, all this leads me to my Kindle. I still, after two years, LOVE my Kindle. I got it when you could still only get them through Amazon. They have since released a slightly smaller version, and lighter than mine. But I still carry my (only 2 year old) "old school" Kindle. It has a scratch across the screen courtesy of Wyland and a car he was playing with. But I smile when I see it because it makes me think of Wyland. It's starting to get a little hairline fracture on the front, but she's still hanging in there.
I have talked my mother into a Kindle. I do believe she pretty much loves hers too!! I told her if she bought it and didn't like it that I would buy it off her (at a discount of course). My dad even cursed me for influencing her because she reads it instead of talking to him now. You know, carries it in her purse and cracks it open at any given moment. I also claim a little credit for influencing a girl I work with for buying hers too. Not sure quite how much influence I had but I was selling the idea to her for sure and she DID go buy one! So Amazon can thank ME for 2 additional sales!!
Benefits of a Kindle according to ME:
Pretty much smaller than most books, hardback and paperback.
No more cluttered book shelves.
Or trying to decide what to do with your books after you've read them.
Or trying to decide what to do with your books after you've read them.
You can make the text bigger and then read it while running on a treadmill.
You can read with only one hand, no pages flopping closed and losing your place.
The books are usually cheaper.
Can feed a baby and read at the same time .. easily!
Download books anywhere .. anytime.
Carry multiple books with you anytime. (or 100's should you choose)
Share/Borrow books with/from other Kindle readers for free.
No driving to get a book on release day. Just download in the comfort of your home.
Read outside with no weird glare.
Need I say more??
Just go get one. Seriously some of the best money ever spent!!
I *heart* my Kindle.
