England-ism's as I see them

So while we were in England I noticed lots of things and thought, hmm .. would never see that at home. Or thought .. that just has England written all over it. So I'm sharing some. Some of them speak for themselves and you'll think .. oh yeah .. only in England.

Haha .. recycling ..

more recycling?Doesn't that just sound so polite?
Okay, I don't know why but this one really cracked me up!!! They will "Rescue" you don't worry!!!!
Pretty daisies on the side of the freeway!
I kept seeing these signs and at first glance my brain would register "Toilet", rather than "To Let" (aka To Rent) so I kept thinking there were all these bathrooms everywhere.
I took this one for Jeramie. We have his HUGE ADT van parked out front of our house all the time and in England all I saw was these cute little cars!

London Tour Bus and "The Eye"

So after the Tower of London visit we picked up the "Big Bus Company" tour. This was our back up plan of getting around the city with the Tubes impending shut down. We cruised around on the top deck of the open air bus. It's such a great way to see some of the sights!

And there it is!!

The Tube (for those that don't know)There's the big guy again.

So after riding around on the tour bus for awhile it was time for our dinner reservations. My mum had purchased a package deal to go with the London Eye. So we were headed up to Covent Gardens for dinner. It was an interesting little place, I guess you would call it a suburb of London. It was a very trendy little area. Tons of really trendy looking restaurants and coffee shops. We ate a nice dinner and then headed over to "The Eye". What is "The Eye" you might ask ????

The London Eye (a gigantic ferris wheel)You actually ride in this little capsule.
Then ride up and can see all over the city of London. It was SO cool!!!
Our only view of Buckingham Palace
Overlooking the River Thames
After our ride on the eye we swung through Picadilly Circus.

We then had to navigate our way home from Picadilly Circus on the bus system. Coming from someone that never rides buses .. this was not an easy accomplishment! We kept getting on the correct bus and then we would get to a stop and they would just tell everyone to get off .. no explanation or anything. It was SO weird. We did eventually make it back to the hotel. Survived Day 1 of Tube Strike!!

Tower of London

On Day Two in London we woke up to the possible threat of an Underground strike beginning at 7pm that evening. With that in mind we decided we would take the Tube all the way from our hotel to the Tower of London first thing. The Tower of London was quite a far way from our hotel so if the Tubes shut down we wouldn't be trying to navigate all the way over there on a bus. So off we went. The Tower of London to me has always been one of the funnest tourist attractions. It has so much history and cool things to look at. Not to mention the Crown Jewels.

Only in London do you see policeman on horseback.
