East Canyon Weekend

On a whim we decided to head up to East Canyon. We had never been to this place before but had heard it was okay. Well it was quite the pull for Big Red and her new clutch! We were a little afraid but she did great!! The lake was actually really nice. Very clean and it had a nice play area for the kids. However, it was rather small and there were a LOT Of boats. Due to this factor it was kind of hard to find good wake boarding water. So eventually we turned to the tube for a little fun. Baylee decided that she was going to go on the tube. Now keep in mind she has made this claim before but this time she was serious. We debated all of the "best" ways to get her onto the tube. She has serious issues with unstable ground. Which a tube bobbing in the water and constantly moving would be a worst case scenario. In the end we pulled the tube as high up on the back of the boat as possible and this provided quite a good amount of stability. And on she got!! This was Baylee's very first tube ride. It's a 3 seater tube so I got on one side and my mum got on the other side of her. All was going well, she was having a good time. Then all of a sudden the front end dipped into the water which is the worst thing that could happen. We sunk. So when I popped up out of the water all I could see was tube, so I frantically start looking for Baylee and then she pops up in front of me. Just a total look of terror on her face. Her head had also popped down inside the life jacket. So my first action was to get her head popped out, calm her down and then get her to roll on her back to float. All in all it ended ok. Once she was out of the water she was immediately in good spirits and for days afterwards we talked about how I "found her" in the water. It was a hugely scary experience for me and I'm in not rush to get her back on the tube again. I think just some nice swimming in the water sounds good to me! It was a fun weekends though. After boating we just headed over to the swimming area. Mike joined us for a little while on Saturday and then he left Zarley to stay over with us. Zarley and Jackson had a good time.

Wyland loved the water.

Baylee enjoyed being where she could stand.

July 4th

July 4th actually turned out to be a super fun action packed day. My parents went ALL out! They had a backyard set up full of games and fun for the kids. There was a paddling pool, badminton court, and various other toys. So we headed over there kind of early in the day and had a lot of fun learning to play badminton. It was fun once you got the hang of it. After some lively game play we had an early dinner. Mike, Amber and family joined us for some grub. Then we headed down to the Sandy City Fireworks.

Wyland turns to Dad and says, "Can I play too?"

Happy 1st Birthday Wyland!!

I can't believe that my baby turned one! It's been a crazy year. When Wyland was first born he looked just identical to Jackson in so many ways and yet now after only one short year they look very very different. Wyland certainly didn't understand the whole "birthday" thing. But he got some cool toys and has since really enjoyed playing with them. A couple days before his birthday I took both Baylee and Jackson to choose a toy they wanted to get him for his birthday. Jackson didn't quite grasp this concept. He chose a truck with a trailer. So okay it was a Tonka truck and it was for Wyland's age group. Well all the way home Jackson wants to give Wyland his birthday present and I keep telling him no, we have to wait until Sunday. So finally after we get home and he nags me long enough I agree to let him open Wyland's present for him. As soon as I get the truck open Jackson tells me, "We share, huh mom?" Clearly my 3 year old is no dummy and sharing sounds like a great idea when it's someone elses toy! Wyland didn't mind though, he's happy to have someone to play with.

Happy Birthday Boy

Pre July 4th Festivities

On the night before the holiday my brother Mike invited us over to do fireworks. Jeramie was working on Big Red with his dad trying to finish up fixing it. Did I mention that my brilliant husband and his dad were fixing the clutch themselves and saving us LOTS of money? Oh they did! So it was just me and the kids hanging out. So we took Mike up on his offer and stopped at Harmon's and bought some more fireworks. It's been forever since I have participated in the at home kind of fireworks. It actually turned out to be pretty fun and the kids really enjoyed it. I would definitely do it again!
