Baseball!!!

I love baseball.

I played softball growing up (among other things).  I grew up going watching Mike and Evan both play baseball, more Mike than Evan I think.  I love playing it. I love watching it.  I am beyond excited to watch my boys start playing!

Jackson gave baseball a try a few years ago.  It didn't work out so well that time.

Jeramie likes to think he's a coach.

Wyland was a natural.
He rarely used the tee and this was his first year.

And he had a great arm too!

I was too cheap to buy actual pictures this year.

And apparently I kind of suck because I didn't take any action shots of Jackson!

Jackson also had a really good season.  It was short and I actually look forward to when they're a little older and have practices and stuff to help them get better as a team.  Jackson played more of a real baseball game this year.  With outs and rarely a tee.  It was a lot more fun to watch that Wyland's instructional league.

Jeramie and I both said that we need to get out to the park more often with the boys to practice at this kind of stuff to help them improve.  Jackson has started Jr. Jazz Basketball now, we're having fun watching that as well!

I am a mother to boys.

A couple weeks ago Jackson and Wyland were playing with the sidewalk chalk at my parents house on the porch.  Apparently Wyland threw a piece of chalk at Jackson.  So before I knew it Jackson retaliated and full contact hit Wyland with a piece of chalk.

Let the wailing commence.  Immediately underneath Wyland's eye was a bump the size of a marble. Literally.

Marble sized bump.
This was taken within minutes, you can already see it bruising.

Later on that evening the swelling was spreading nice and evenly under his eye.

The next morning he had a full on black eye.
This picture really doesn't do it justice.

Probably won't be the last time something like this happens.  And it already isn't the first.  It was only last year that Wyland popped Jackson in the forehead giving him a huge bruise.  They are so rough with each other.  Hopefully it just makes them stronger.

Hopefully they don't do things like stand at the top of a cliff and debate whether it's a good place to cliff dive from .. like my brothers.

This is one of my favorite pictures of my brothers.  I just love seeing them do stuff like this together.

Brave Boys

So a week and a half ago we went in for a dental check up and the news was not good.  Well okay .. it was partially good.  Baylee had zero cavities .. she was in real good shape.  Jackson on the other hand had two.  Wyland .. well Wyland had a lot of issues.  But we knew going in that Wyland was going to need a lot of work. Baylee was is a similar situation at his age.  We had her dental work done up at Primary Childrens years ago.  She was such a trooper .. but then she always is when it comes to anything medically related.

When the dentist suggested that we put Wyland under general anesthesia to get all his work done at one time we jumped at the opportunity.  I wanted it to be as little traumatic for him as possible.  They assured me they would call me early the following week with estimates and the such after talking to our health insurance.  They called and offered us the following Monday.  Ironically enough this was the same day I already had an appointment for Jackson to get his teeth done so the timing couldn't have been more perfect.  They thought Wyland would likely go in at 6:30am so Jeramie and I both scheduled the day off of work.  I usually get super anxious about this kind of stuff and I was actually surprisingly calm with the impending dental surgery.

So this morning I was up at 4:45am (oh my goodness is that early) .. 45 minutes later we were walking into the surgical center which happened to be in the same building as the dentists office.  Wyland was barely awake and was his usual mommy clinging self.  We spent most of the first hour just sitting around.  He was the only patient there that early.  They came to take his temp, check his oxygen and then next thing I knew we were walking back to the surgical room.  He didn't want to ride in the bed. This was the part that I was dreading the most I think.  As we walked through a set of double doors the next thing I knew the anesthesiologist was saying, okay Wyland as he lifted him out of my arms.  Wyland began crying and I did an about face and walked out.  Man did that part suck.  But having talked to them during pre registration they had assured me that he would be knocked out with a gas mask within a couple minutes.  So they walked me back to the waiting room where I settled in with my Kindle for a two hour wait by myself.  The dentist had told me that he expected it would take an hour and a half.  I mentally had planned for two hours.  I remember them telling me the same time when I went in with Baylee ten years ago.  It didn't take an hour and a half.  Needless to say after we hit the two hour mark that next half hour seemed to drag endlessly.  I was watching the clock and planned to head over to the reception desk and ask for an update once the clock in 9am.  However, with minutes to spare the dentist walked out FINALLY.  Everything went well and they would take me back to him in about 5-10 minutes.  And so I waited some more.  Finally they took be back and while I expected him to be awake at that point, he was sound asleep.  Apparently he had woken up and had a bad case of the shivers and was in some pain so they gave him another dose of IV meds and it promptly put him back to sleep.  And so we waited some more.  My poor baby looked like he'd been beaten up.

 Finally sleeping beauty woke up.
He didn't cry like I expected that he would.  Which was nice.

We were quickly released to come home.
Once we were home Wyland chilled on my lap for a while just soaking up the love.
Then because Jackson had also been such a brave boy Jeramie had promised to take him
to Target for a toy (plus pick up a prescription).  Next thing I knew Wyland was
bouncing off the walls to go too.  After we came home he took about a two hour
nap and ever since has been just fine coping on some ibuprofen.
He's a happy kid to have his new teeth, even though he's afraid they're gonna fall out.

Jackson getting gassed up prior to his filling.

I'm so proud of my two big boys today.  They both did such a good job.  I'm glad that it's all over and done with for another year.  And it was really nice to be able to stay home today and just cuddle and coddle.  Love these guys so much!

Bath time with boys.

Right now Jackson and Wyland always take baths together.
I can remember when baths become that much more fun because Wyland was big enough to join Jackson.
They could play in there for hours.
Like sometimes they're in there for so long that I don't even bother washing them.
After over an hour soaking in that water I'm sure the dirt is gone.
I know .. I know ..I still do their hair.  DUH!

Oliver was okay just hanging out in the bathroom.
Then he realized there was some fun going on in the tub.
Then he thought he wanted to join in the fun.

Those big boys are a little crazy to be dropping a little 9 month old in there too.
But I know before I can blink an eye there will be 3 naughty boys in that bath tub.

Then how much MORE water will I be mopping up after they're done??

7 Month Comparison

Today Oliver is 7 months old.
I think that I missed the 6 month comparison .. oopsie.

 Jackson
 Wyland
 Oliver

So to me Jackson and Wyland look more alike at that age than I remember.
While Oliver obviously doesn't have the same color eyes,
I still don't think you would mistake them for brothers.
They all have those full squishy cheeks.
Total cuties.

And yet asleep I think they look a LOT alike.
That was Jackson in the bottom picture.

While Oliver still isn't sitting up .. he's close and that's okay with me.
I notice that Wyland already has two teeth and today his are the worst teeth of all.
Jackson didn't cut his first tooth until after his first birthday.
I'd be perfectly happy if Oliver waited equally as long.

Sometimes I watch Oliver watching Jackson and Wyland with such eagerness.
The reminder shocks me that I have THREE boys.
Three.
They are so much fun.
Baylee couldn't love any one of them any more than she does.
I think she feels super lucky too.

More Swimming

You're probably tired of my swimming pictures by now.  This week Jackson continued to get braver though.  He would put his face in the water and walk the length of the kiddie pool.  I'm just so happy to see him becoming more comfortable in the water.  He's literally growing up so quickly right before my eyes these past few months.  I can't believe it.  Wyland went in the water this weekend too.  It was the one weekend this month that Jeramie could come with us to Swimming Lessons.  So that meant that Wyland got to go in the water and play with Jackson.  Mainly because Jeramie could get in with them (since I was out with Oliver).

I had flashbacks from when Jackson fell in the pool. Wyland was bending over in the water to dip his mouth in and I think he bent too far and tipped over.  Next thing he's floating face down and can't get back up again.  Until Jeramie flipped him back upright.  I tell you it's the scariest thing to watch.  At first I was feeling majorly guilty like I am this terrible parrent that both my older boys have done basically the same thing.  Having had these traumatic experiences.  But then literally 10 minutes later another little girl did the EXACT same thing!  It made me feel better.  I guess it's par for the course.  But it sure serves as a reminder of how quickly bad things can happen when kids are around water.  It scares the heck out of me that's for sure.

Love me some BOYS!

This is one of my favorite pictures of Jackson and Wyland.
I needed an updated one.

I can already tell this will be another favorite.

3 Month Comparison

I actually think they all look quite a bit alike at 3 months.
I think that he looks slightly more like Jackson.

Jackson
Wyland
Oliver

Except for those eyes turning BROWN!!!
I have no brown eyed babies.
And I'm THRILLED!
I always wanted brown eyes myself.
The one thing I hoped for with Oliver while I was pregnant.
Dark hair and brown eyes.
Look who got her way...

Curls or Straight?

That is the question.
I've determined that Jackson's hair started to look significantly curly right around 9 months.

Wyland's on the other hand.  Dead straight all along.

So everyone wonders which route Oliver's hair will take.
I'm thinking we've got some curls growing here.

You know you have boys when ....

Your lamp shades hang crooked because they are used to hold Batman and Joker.

What will the baby look like?

So both of my boys looked VERY much alike when they were born.  You've probably already heard me say that then Wyland was pulled out and they held him up both Jeramie and I thought we had a Jackson look alike on our hands.  It was uncanny how much they looked alike.  In fact as I was pulling pictures for this post Jeramie said, "Oh is that Jackson?"  I told him it was Wyland and he didn't believe me!  So the big question with our new baby is what will this one look like?  Will he follow the same path as his brothers?  Jeramie's mom really wants a baby with black hair (like Jeramie's) and big and light colored eyes (like me).  Besides from the obvious wish of a healthy baby this is what I'm looking forward to the most.  What will he look like?
Jackson at birth.
 Wyland at birth.
They didn't look much different at a month or two old either.
By their first birthhday however they no longer look anything alike.
